Job title: Laboratory Technologist

Employer: Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO)

Location: Tanga

Duties
a)Responsible for general activities of medical laboratory at Hale Dispensary.
b)To plan, budget and control laboratory in terms of laboratory equipments and supplies.
c)To provide professional laboratory care and coordinate all laboratory services within the Plant and give advice whenever needed.
d)Conduct chemical analysis of body fluid such as blood and urine using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases and provide report on the findings and where applicable enter them into Computer.
e)Set up, adjust, maintain and Clean dispensary laboratory equipments.

Education
Diploma in Laboratory Technology
Secondary Education Certificate (Form IV/VI)
Must be computer literate
At least Two (2)working experience in laboratory works

Job title: Laboratory Scientists
Employer: Muhimbili University of Health & Allied Sciences

Sickle cell Programme is a research programme in the Department of Haematology and
Blood Transfusion at Muhimbili University of Health & Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The programme conducts biomedical research, Supports health care, Advocacy and Training. The Sickle cell Programme is currently having a volunteer position for highly motivated and result driven individual interested in working in the health sector.

Duties
Prepare items and Perform phlebotomy when need arise.
Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical procedures on all specimens and control material received including but not limited to registration, separation and storage.
Perform testing in Serology, Haematology, Chemistry, Clinical microscopy, PCR and micro nutrients
Reporting abnormal results to the Lab Manager or Programme Coordinator.
Checking and completing all the laboratory results in Laboratory Information System or register book before validation/verification by a laboratory manager/Programme coordinator.
Archive all the source documents after testing in the appropriate files.
Ensure accurate sample coordination and delivery.
Prepare specimen for shipping on the samples received according to the SOPs.
Documentation of daily operation, recalibration, preventive maintenance service and repair of the machines/analyzers in the operational, reagent, calibration, maintenance and corrective action logs.
Archive all the source documents after testing in the appropriate files.
Adhere to stock control procedures.
Prepare summary reports of the machines/analyzers at the end of every month.
Troubleshoot any technical faults of the machine using operator’s guide manual.
Ensure that the Lab Manager/ Programme Coordinator are advised of any problems with the equipment.
Any other duties as assigned by but not limited to the Lab Manager/ Programme Coordinator.

Education
• Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Strong computer Knowledge in Microsoft office

Experience
• At least 1 year of working experience in the laboratory field
• Good work ethics and a desire to make a difference
• Goal driven with strong attitude and commitment towards clinical research work particularly in Sickle Cell Disease.
• Prioritizing of tasks and good time management
• Excellent report writing skills
• Ability to multi-task and handle pressure well
• Flexibility and ability to work within a multi- cultural environment
